Having slain Bob, a member of a rival gang, Johnny and Pony fled to Jay's Mountain in S.E. Hinton's book "The Outsiders" to avoid capture. The two lads escaped to the protection of the mountain hideout because they were scared and knew that if they were discovered, they would suffer severe penalties.
